Thomas T. “Mike” Mickel
Chief Executive Officer
Mike founded Dominion Aviation in 1983 as an aircraft management and charter company. Mike, a 40 year veteran of corporate aviation, is dedicated to service and committed to quality with safety at the forefront of every decision. He is an experienced pilot with over 10,000 hours of flight time, is Airline Transport rated and certified to fly numerous corporate jets and helicopters. Mike also serves as Chairman on the Board of Directors of the Virginia Aviation Business Association. Each department of Dominion is led by a creative manager supporting Mike in his vision of aviation excellence. These managers form the solid foundation of the company and each average in excess of 15 years with Dominion Aviation.
President and Director of Operations
Andy Hughes is Dominion’s President and Director of Operations, responsible for all flight operations and pilot management. Andy graduated from Purdue University in 1994 with degrees in Applied Sciences, Aviation Technology, and Public Relations. He holds a Masters of Business Administration with a Finance and Aviation specialty from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. Andy joined the Dominion Team in 1995. He has accumulated over 10,000 flight hours and is rated in four corporate jets.
Chief Financial Officer/Chief Operating Officer
Kim joined the Dominion Team in 2014 with enthusiasm to learn the aviation business. She is a certified public accountant with over 20 years of experience. Kim has a Bachelor of Science degree from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. She moved to the Richmond area with her family 20 years ago and has experience with a variety of business entities and types. Kim serves as Dominion’s Chief Financial Officer. Her duties involve all aspects of accounting and human resources along with additional aspects of day-to-day business operations.
Carl Gouaux joined the Dominion Team in 2015. He serves as the Chief Pilot, responsible for flight operations, pilot management and the scheduling team. Carl graduated from the University of Montana in 1989. He recently retired from the Air Force Reserves following a 27-year career. Carl served nine years as a helicopter pilot and Weapons & Tactics Instructor in the Marine Corps and 18 years in the Air Force as a C-5 Aircraft Commander and Joint Operations Planner.
Sales and Marketing Specialist
Trevor joined the Dominion Team in 2018. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Studies and Public Relations from Longwood University. Trevor is the founder of Richmond-based nonprofit, Young Aviators, incorporating his expertise in digital communication, modern marketing tactics, and social media management into his daily operations. He is committed to customer experience management and procedural enhancements to ensure the utmost satisfactory services are performed through all facets of the company. Trevor also serves as a Board Member of the Customer Experience Program at the University of Richmond.
Senior Charter Coordinator
Bruce joined the Dominion Team in 1998 as a pilot. He graduated from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in 1990 with a degree in Professional Aeronautics. Bruce served in the Army for 22 years first as a UH-l Pilot & Instructor Pilot in Korea, then in Washington, DC. He then flew the Corps of Engineers C-12 King Air throughout many European countries. His last assignment was with the VA Army National Guard as a C-12 Pilot & Instructor Pilot. He now serves in the Charter Department as Senior Charter Coordinator providing professional aviation support to our customers.
Charter Coordinator and Billing
Kimberly joined the Dominion Team in 2018 as a Customer Service Representative but quickly moved into an Administrative Assistant/Charter Billing Associate position before eventually moving into a Charter Coordinator role in January 2020. Kimberly is responsible for handling all email/phone communications between clients, quoting/scheduling trips for customers, and all other day-to-day operations of the Charter Department. Her duties are also inclusive of catering, rental car and limo reservations, and lodging for customers and crew members.
Mary joined the Dominion Team in 2018 as a Customer Service Representative. She has since been moved into the Charter Department as of 2021 to better serve our customers as we continue to grow. Mary brings her expertise in airport operations and customer experience management to the Charter Department, alongside her commitment toward efficient and safe operations.
Director of Maintenance
Human Resources Coordinator
Susan joined the Dominion Team in 2010 as the Administrative Assistant in the Maintenance Department. She is now our Human Resources Coordinator, responsible for company payroll, employee benefits and recruitment, and facilitating our Administrative Drug Program. Susan also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Communications and Public Relations from the University of Delaware. The favorite part of her job is helping new and existing employees navigate the vast and complicated world of benefits and health insurance that best fits their personal and family situations.
Front Desk Manager
Nicole joined the Dominion Team in 2014 working as a Line Service Technician then soon after became the Front Desk Manager. Having experience working with airlines, general aviation and military aircraft since the age of 18, Nicole brings a wealth of knowledge to Dominion inclusive of airport operations, airport safety, and leadership. She oversees all of the Customer Service Representatives and also serves on the Safety Committee.
Parts and Supply Manager
Jeff joined the Dominion Team in 1992. He currently serves as our Parts and Supply Manager, closely working with the Maintenance and Line Service Departments. Jeff is a commercial-rated instrument pilot; having flown many different types of aircraft, including helicopters, during his career in the Army.
